Pre-registration approaching for KTnB 5K at Delta Blues Winery

The “Ready. Set. Grow! 5K” is set for April 12th at the Delta Blues Winery in Lakeland.

Early registration ends April 11th with the fee increasing from $25 to $35.

The annual event raise awareness about Keep Tennessee Beautiful (KTnB) and efforts to inspire Tennesseans to take action on litter prevention, recycling and beautification in their communities.

All proceeds from this event will go to the University of Memphis/KTnB Foundation to create scholarships for students planning to study in the environmental conservation field and to develop community environmental education grants to be used across the state.

Among the sponsors is the City of Lakeland.

According to Edmond McDavis III, KTnB communications director, “All ages are welcome to this event! You can run or walk in this race. We want to promote not only a healthy lifestyle for Tennesseans, but also encourage us to have a healthy state too!”

On the day of the race, onsite registration and packet pick-up is at 4 p.m. with the race beginning at 6 p.m. Awards will be presented at 7:30 p.m.

KTnB is a University College Department of the University of Memphis sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Transportation with funds from special taxes levied on malt beverage and the soft drink industries.  Since 1983, KTnB has served as a state resource center for litter prevention, community greening and recycling and waste reduction education.
