Lakeland Prep sophomore Olivia Reyes has been named the school’s Athlete of the Week following an impressive performance on the volleyball court.
Reyes, an outside hitter for the Lakeland Lions, recorded 35 kills, 12 digs and eight aces over the past week, helping provide a strong offensive and defensive presence for the team.
This season marks Reyes’ first year as a varsity starter, and she has quickly established herself as an important contributor to the Lions.
“Olivia’s first year as a varsity starter, and she is making an instant impact on the Lakeland Lions team,” said Olivia O’Keefe, Lakeland Prep’s high school volleyball coach. “Olivia is a consistent presence on the court, bringing energy, confidence, and determination to every match.”
O’Keefe said Reyes has embraced the opportunity to compete at the varsity level and has continued to demonstrate her ability to perform in key moments.
“Her ability to step into a starting role and compete at a high level has made her an important piece of this team,” O’Keefe said. “Olivia continues to show that she is ready for the moment and is just getting started.”
Last week was also significant for Coach O’Keefe, who recorded her first varsity victory as a high school head coach when the Lions defeated Brighton 3-1 last week.
How Is the Athlete Of the Week Determined?
