Lakeland residents should prepare for road maintenance work beginning this week in Fairway Meadows, Woodbridge and Stonebridge, with work scheduled to take place on different streets throughout the neighborhoods over the next two weeks.
The City of Lakeland has clarified that Wednesday, Aug. 12, is the first day of the overall project, but work will not begin on every street or in every subdivision that day. Residents should use the project map to identify the color assigned to their street and match it to the corresponding work dates.
The current schedule is as follows:
Fairway Meadows
- Red: Aug. 12–13
- Blue: Aug. 14–15
- Yellow: Aug. 17–18
- Aqua: Aug. 19–20
- Light Pink: Aug. 21–22
- Purple: Aug. 24–25
Woodbridge
- Red: Aug. 12–13
- Blue: Aug. 14–15
- Yellow: Aug. 17–18
- Aqua: Aug. 19–20
- Light Pink: Aug. 21–22
- Purple: Aug. 24–25
Stonebridge
- Blue: Aug. 14–15
- Aqua: Aug. 19–20
- Purple: Aug. 24–25
The road preservation project involves Holbrook Asphalt applying a high-density bond material designed to improve the durability and extend the life of selected neighborhood streets.
School Bus Routes Could Be Affected
The project could also temporarily affect some Lakeland School System bus routes as roads are closed or access is restricted during maintenance.
LSS has advised families that students should continue reporting to their regular bus stops. When a road is closed, buses will travel as close as possible to the normal stop using roads that remain accessible.
Parents are also encouraged to remind students not to walk on streets where road work is underway. Students should use sidewalks or grassy areas when traveling to their bus stops and exercise caution around construction crews and equipment.
City officials note that the schedule remains weather-dependent, and unforeseen circumstances could result in changes to individual work dates.
