The LPS Theatre Company has unveiled its 2026-27 production season, featuring two acclaimed stage productions that build on the success of one of the most celebrated years in the program’s history.
The announcement comes after the theatre department received 20 nominations at the 2026 Orpheum High School Musical Theatre Awards, further establishing LPS Theatre Company as one of the region’s premier high school theatre programs.
The upcoming season will begin Nov. 5-8, 2026, with The Diviners by Jim Leonard Jr. Set in a small Indiana town during the Great Depression, the dramatic production tells the story of a troubled young man gifted with the ability to find water and his unlikely friendship with a former preacher struggling with his faith. The play explores themes of redemption, community, tragedy and hope through an emotionally powerful narrative.
The season will conclude April 1-4, 2027, with Bright Star, the award-winning musical written and composed by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell. Featuring a bluegrass-inspired score, the story spans the Appalachian South during the 1920s and 1940s, following a young soldier returning home from World War II whose arrival uncovers a long-buried family secret. The production weaves together themes of love, loss and resilience in an uplifting musical experience.
School officials say the new season reflects the continued growth of the theatre program while providing students with opportunities to showcase their talents both on and off the stage.
As a nonprofit community organization, LPS Theatre Company is also seeking local business sponsors and community partners to support the upcoming season. Sponsorships help fund production expenses including set construction, costumes and performance licensing while providing promotional opportunities to businesses through performances attended by thousands of local patrons throughout the year.
