LPS Theatre Company Announces Fall Production of The Curious Savage

The Lakeland Prep Theatre Company is preparing to bring a beloved classic to the stage this fall. Under the direction of Jeff White, students will present The Curious Savage by John Patrick, running November 6–9, 2025.

“This play has a big heart and will leave audiences with a feeling of warmth and charm,” said White. “We can’t wait to share this with the Lakeland community!”

The production features a cast of 11 students, with additional students serving as assistant director, set designers, lighting and sound technicians, and costume, makeup, props, and playbill designers—making it a true team effort that showcases the wide-ranging talents of Lakeland Prep’s theatre program.

First staged in 1950, The Curious Savage tells the story of Ethel Savage, a wealthy widow who inherits a fortune and dreams of using it to help others. Her greedy stepchildren, eager to seize the money for themselves, have her committed to “The Cloisters,” a private sanatorium. There, Mrs. Savage befriends a group of unconventional but kind-hearted residents and finds new purpose. The play blends humor with thought-provoking themes, examining greed, compassion, and the real meaning of sanity and wealth.

With its mix of comedy and heart, this timeless story is expected to delight audiences of all ages.
