Lakeland’s popular community yard sale tradition will return on Saturday, September 27, 2025, bringing residents and bargain-hunters together for a day of neighborhood-wide shopping.
Since its start in 2014, the Lakeland Yard Sale has been held twice a year—in the spring and fall—with participation ranging anywhere from 50 households to more than 200. A special summer edition was even organized in 2020.
In recent years, the date selection process has shifted from online surveys to voting on Facebook, which organizers say has worked well for the community. As in past sales, participating households will have the opportunity to share their addresses on Facebook so shoppers can plan their routes in advance.
There is no rain date for the event, but late September typically brings ideal yard-sale weather. Sellers are encouraged to place signs directing shoppers to their homes and to remove them by the following Monday.
While some households begin selling Friday morning, most activity takes place Saturday morning. The busiest hours are typically between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., with many participants wrapping up by early afternoon around 2 p.m.
All registered sellers will also be listed on the Yard Sale Treasure Map, which will be promoted across social media channels to help draw visitors.
