‘Tis the season for the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway and a Drive-By

(Editor’s Note: Today, (6.8.20) St. Jude officials announced the Drive-By will open June 12th instead of June 11th. There will be a delay in setting up the lights because of rain this week.)

The St. Jude Dream Home in Lakeland will be lit up, Christmas holiday-style, for a drive-by viewing June 11th – 21st starting each night at sundown.

Sidney Watson, regional development representative for ALSAC, said although the open house for the Home has been postponed until further notice because of COVID-19 and personal safety,  the decorated exterior can be viewed from the comfort and safety of your vehicle.

“The home will be lit up holiday-style by Greenline Landscape Services for viewing, but drivers are encouraged to stay in their cars,” said Ms. Watson.

John Summer with Greenline said the home will be outlined in lights with Santa and his sleigh in the front yard along with gingerbread people and lighted shrubs and trees.  “The walls of the house will be lit with wall washes,” he said.

The home is located 5235 Saffron Springs in Kensington Manor in Lakeland.  It is a four bedroom/four bath home, valued at $500,000 with an estimated 4,000 square feet. Greg Bridgers, founder of Southern Serenity Homes, is the builder.  It is the second consecutive Dream Home in Lakeland.

Five weeks ahead of the deadline, 15,000 tickets for the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway in Lakeland sold out, raising $1.5 million for the children of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  “We had a record-breaking year, raising the most money in the fastest time ever,” said Ms. Watson.

All prizes including the home will be given away June 28th on WMC Action 5.
