Lakeland student signs to play for Mercer University

Al Wooten II, son of Alfred and Vera Wooten of Lakeland, has signed his National Letter of Intent to play football at Mercer University in Macon, GA.

He is a student at Christian Brothers High School (CBHS) where he spent four years on the varsity football squad and rushed for 1,000 yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior.  He is ranked as the 14th running back among FCS commitments according to Hero Sports. He is a three-time All-Region selection and two-time All-State honoree.  He led CBHS to a region championship in 2017.  He wrestled and ran track and also won a state championship in wrestling.
