Lakeland wreck leaves one person injured in non-critical condition

Woods adjacent to Beverle Rivera Drive near Garner Lake

A one-vehicle crash overnight in Lakeland left one person injured and transported to a Memphis hospital in stable and non-critical condition this morning (1.19.20).

The accident happened off Beverle Rivera Drive into the woods by Garner Lake, according to Capt. Anthony Buckner, chief information officer with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO).  A resident who did not want to be identified said the car flipped and landed on its roof.  A tow truck was on the scene about 8 a.m. with traffic directed by SCSO.

“Deputies investigated the accident this morning shortly after 7 a.m.,“ said Capt. Buckner.  “One person was transported to the hospital in non-critical condition.”  The car was reported to be a sports car, possibly a Corvette or BMW.  The report has not been filed with SCSO, said Capt. Buckner, so additional details are not available.

Brent Perkins, public information officer for the Shelby County Fire Department (SCFD), said, “A patient was transported in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries from his home I’m told this morning. This was not the scene of the crash.  The scene did involve the rollover of a sports car sometime during the overnight hours. The cause of the crash will be determined by the SCSO.”
