One person was killed at 1:44 p.m. Thanksgiving Day (11.28.19) in a truck/pedestrian accident on I-40 near Canada Road in Lakeland, according to Sgt. Christopher Richardson, public information officer for the Memphis District of the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).
He said Andrew Henry, 29, from Cordova was killed when he ran into the path of a tractor-trailer truck going eastbound on I-40 at Mile Marker 20.
Sgt. Richardson said the preliminary description of the accident shows that “Vehicle #1 (the tractor-trailer truck) was traveling East on Interstate 40 in lane #2. Pedestrian #1 was on the right shoulder of Interstate 40 Eastbound. Pedestrian #1 ran into lane #2 causing Vehicle #1’s right far front to impact the pedestrian. After impact Vehicle #1 came to a controlled stop on the right shoulder of Interstate 40 East facing East. Pedestrian #1 came to a final rest on Interstate 40 Eastbound in Lane #2.”
Neither the driver of the truck, Safaa Albresam, 39, of Manchester, CT, nor a passenger, Mishaal Faris, 33, of Biddeford, ME, was injured.
No charges have been filed in the accident.
