24-hour Overdose Spike Alert from SCHD includes 38002

The Shelby County Health Department (SCHD) today (9.4.19) issued a 24-Hour Overdose Spike Alert for the 24-hour period that ended at midnight Aug. 30, 2019.  During that timeframe, there were 20 reported overdose events, 3 of which were fatal.

The pie chart shows suspected overdose events by City with 95% in Memphis and 5% in Arlington.  Statistics listed on the alert include 38002 among zip codes for the suspected fatal overdoses and all suspected overdoses.  Joan Carr, public information officer for SCHD, was asked if the 38002 zip code mention specifically relates to Arlington, Lakeland or other areas.  She said, “I cannot give any further information about locations than what is included in the alert.”
