Results posted to the Shelby County Election Commission (SCEC) website at 11 p.m. tonight (11.6.18) show Lakeland has a new mayor, two new commissioners and one new school board member.
Mike Cunningham has apparently carried the Mayoral election with 53% of the vote to 47% for Incumbent Mayor Wyatt Bunker.
Apparent newly elected as Commissioners are Richard Gonzales Jr. and Michele Dial. Kevin Floyd and Laura Harrison have retained their seats on the Lakeland School Board with newcomer Deborah Thomas taking the third vacant seat.
There may be some vote changes when provisional ballots, if any in Lakeland, are counted. And the vote will not be certified by the SCEC until Nov. 26.
