LPS Theatre Company Receives Multiple Orpheum Nominations

The Orpheum High School Musical Theatre Awards announced its nominations for 2024, marking the 15th year of celebrating high school musical theatre in the Mid-South. Among the standout nominees was the LPS Theatre Company, which received an impressive five nominations in its inaugural year of participation.

Due to the unique makeup of their cast and crew, comprised of 7th through 10th graders, LPS Theatre Company was not eligible for the overall production category. Nonetheless, they garnered nominations in several other categories, including Outstanding Chorus, Outstanding Playbill, Outstanding Lighting, Outstanding Music Direction for Tate Hansen, and Outstanding Direction by Teachers Jeff White and Alison Garland.

The LPS Theatre Company plans to celebrate their nominations on May 23rd at 7pm at the Orpheum, where they will join eighty attendees for the awards ceremony. Additionally, two of their students, Aja Jones and Zoey Yale, will perform the opening and closing numbers alongside an ensemble of local students.

Show lineups for the 2024-2025 season is expected to be announced on May 6, 2024.
