New recruits graduate as deputy sheriffs for SCSO

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) had a graduation ceremony Thursday (5.23.19) with nearly 20 deputy recruits becoming deputy sheriffs, according to Capt. Anthony Buckner with SCSO.

Capt. Buckner said each will be assigned to uniform patrol for training and paired with a field training officer. Some will be in Lakeland, he said, others around the County including Arlington, Cordova, northeast and southeast Shelby County.

“This benefits the entire County with more deputies,” said Capt. Buckner.  He said there are usually two graduations a year with each class size about 20.
