A one-day student winter camp at IH Clubhouse next month will feature plant origins of sweet treats and yummy experiments.
The Feb. 18 event is co-sponsored by the Lakeland Parks and Recreation Department and Memphis Botanic Garden.
Children will explore plants that produce chocolate, vanilla, licorice and cinnamon, creating their own mint candies and sampling classroom-made chewing gum.
Ages: Grades 1-6. Snacks will be provided during the two-hour camp.
Date and time: From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18
Location: IH Clubhouse, 4523 Canada Rd.
Class fee: $35 includes all supplies
Registration info: Register online at www.lakelandtn.gov/leagues or bring/mail form to Lakeland City Hall, 10001 Hwy 70, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Make check to City of Lakeland. Registration deadline is Feb. 10.
