Through Lakeland residents Jim and Faye Jones, the IH Clubhouse can be seen in a new perspective via 3D virtual tour.
The technology is called Matterport and allows an immersive experience, said Mr. Jones who is part of a Realtor team with his wife at ReMax. “It is something engaging and fascinating,” commented Mr. Jones. “It is a way to stop, look, understand and feel how that space would be as if you are really there.”
The Joneses volunteered their equipment (valued at $8,000) and time to film the City site at 4523 Canada Road and offered the video to Lakeland Currents.
Mr. Jones has offered use of the camera at Lakeland parks as well as the construction site at Lakeland Middle Preparatory School. As he completes new videos, he will share with Lakeland Currents. “When we first saw Matterport, we knew it would be a technology we would like to use in our real estate business,” said Mr. Jones.
Mr. Jones believes traditional photography or a flat floor plan doesn’t tell the story of living in a home. “The doll house view, elevator tool and ability to ‘walk’ through the home is critical to a true understanding of the home’s value to the prospective buyers.
He noted IH Clubhouse is a great example of a facility that is available to the public for many functions such as weddings, banquets or meetings. “With the 3D virtual tour, you can preview the facility to see if it’s a fit for your function.”
The Joneses have lived in Lakeland 10 years and both are members of the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce where Mr. Jones is on the Board of directors. He also is a volunteer reserve officer in the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office emergency services.
