Shelby County taxpayers can now pay property taxes with their mobile devices.

The Shelby County Trustee’s Office has released a mobile app called payitShelby that makes it easy to pay taxes anytime and anywhere. In the 45 days since its online release in mid-December, e-commerce collections have increased by $6 million compared to collections during the same time a year ago, according to David C. Lenoir, Shelby County Trustee.

The mobile app allows residents to link to property tax accounts to pay, manage and receive notifications about their accounts.

“We want to make it so that taxpayers can do business with the Trustee’s Office anytime, anywhere and on any device,” said Mr. Lenoir.  “It’s important that we meet citizens where they are. People expect to have the convenience of different methods of payment and to access them in a secure and efficient manner.”

PayItShelby allows citizens to set up one-time payments, manage payment options, make partial payments on a bill and receive reminders when a new bill has arrived.  The underlying platform allows its users to access and store multiple accounts through a single app in a single sign-on.

PayItShelby can be found on iTunes and Google Play. To download the app or make online payments, go to www.shelbycountytrustee.com.
