LMPS Played Hard but Lost to SFMS at Basketball Tournament

LMPS boys basketball in tournament play yesterday

It was a nail-biter but the LMPS (Lakeland Middle Preparatory School) Lions lost yesterday (1.20.18) in tournament play and did not advance to Monday’s game.

The boys’ team lost the basketball game 49-46 to Schilling Farms Middle School (SFMS) from Collierville.  It was day one of the Municipal Schools Regional Basketball Tournament in the LMPS gym.

The tournament, hosted for the first time at LMPS, continues Monday and Tuesday.  It was postponed from earlier in the week because of snow and school cancellations.

Coach Nathan Fisher said, “We lost a heart breaker to Schilling Farms 49-46. The boys played an outstanding game.”

He said he and Coach Michael Posey were very impressed with how hard the team played.  “They grew as a team this year. We have a bright future at LMPS.”

LMPS opened in August 2017 as a new middle school in Lakeland so it is the first year for basketball, and other middle school sports and activities in the Lakeland School System.
