For the 2nd year in a row, the Missoula Children’s Theater came to Lakeland Elementary School for a drama production. This year’s play was Peter and Wendy. Tryouts were held on Monday, February 20, after school. Out of 110 children, kindergarten through 5th grade, 60 made the cut.
Immediately following tryouts, rehearsal began and the children rehearsed Monday through Friday from 4:00-8:15. The play was held on Saturday, February 25th in the gymnasium of the school. Family and friends were thrilled to see their little ones perform after a grueling week of hard work and preparation.
This PTA sponsored event, in its 2nd year, was another success; however, it may be it’s last. Its future at the Elementary school is questionable due to the lack of 5th graders next year who will be moving up to Middle school. Fifth graders are given the majority of the speaking parts and are able to help in directing as well. There’s a good chance it will find its way over to Lakeland Middle Prep School.
Tiffany Maclin, VP of Cultural Arts for the LES PTA, was in charge of the production, but had superb assistance from other PTA Board members and parents.
