City Fetes I-40 Workers With Lunch

The City of Lakeland treated I-40 interstate workers today with a food truck and visits from the Mayor and Board of Commissioners (BOC).

The “Worker Appreciation Lunch” was suggested last month at a BOC meeting as a way to recognize three years of work at the work site at I-40 and Canada Road.

Cost for the food truck was about $2,000, said Jim Atkinson, city manager.  Rhonda Fink, community services director for the City, said 89 workers were served.

Eric’s Grill and Catering served a variety of sandwiches along with fries and soft drinks from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the former Factory Outlet Mall. A large tent, tables and chairs were also available for the lunch event.

Mayor Wyatt Bunker greeted the workers along with Commissioners Matt Wright and Clark Plunk and Mr. Atkinson.
