Five LMPS students have been selected by audition for the 2018 All-West Tennessee Middle Schools Bands, according to Anneliese Land, band director.

The students are Benjamin Atkinson, 8th grade, percussion; Ella McLaughlin, 8th grade clarinet, alternate; Caroline Floyd, 7th grade, clarinet; Issac Amar, 8th grade, horn; and Eli Roy, 8th grade, clarinet.

Lakeland Middle Preparatory School (LMPS) opened to grades 5-8 in August 2017 and is located at 5020 Lions Crest Drive.

In making the announcement, Mrs. Land said, “These students performed prepared musical excerpts, played major and chromatic scales from memory and demonstrated excellence in sight-reading in order to earn seats in this prestigious honors ensemble, representing the top level of musicianship in the West Tennessee region.”

The All-West Bands will perform at the Cannon Center in downtown Memphis February 8-10.

“We are proud of all of our students,” said Mrs. Land.
