Atypical “Ride” for Santa Tonight

Santa greets children and families at the Christmas Festival tonight.

It wasn’t your typical Santa arrival at IH Clubhouse tonight (12.8.17).

Old St. Nick came to the Lakeland Christmas Festival in his yellow C7 Corvette convertible, greeting children who anxiously awaited his arrival by the towering Christmas tree.

After visiting with the children and their parents, he counted down from 10 and lit the soaring Christmas tree visible from Canada Road.

He then went inside to talk individually with each boy and girl who came to the Festival.

While waiting for their turns in Santa’s lap, the children made elf glasses and had colorful Christmas designs painted on their faces.  And there were tables set for children to write letters to Santa.

Arlington High School Beta Club and National Honor Society members volunteered to help with the event.  It was sponsored by the Lakeland Parks and Recreation Department and coordinated by Staff Member Kim Odom with help from volunteer Barbara Taylor.

Hot tea and coffee were donated by the Lakeland Starbucks and hot pizza by Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N’ Bake  Pizza in Lakeland.
