The first meeting in 2017 of Lakeland’s Economic Development Commission (EDC) started with the swearing-in of the EDC’s newest member Angie Grooms. Ms. Grooms was appointed by the BOC in January and will serve the remainder of a three-year-term ending Dec. 31, 2019.
Ms. Grooms has been a Lakeland resident for 18 years. She, her husband Steve Grooms and their children Allie and Harrison currently live in the Oakwood subdivision. She is co-owner of Austin Allen Company – a national, executive recruiting firm. Her desire to serve on the EDC is, “Because I wanted to be a part of the current and continued growth of the City of Lakeland. There is so much potential here and I wanted to be part of team that was going to make that possible.”
In other EDC business, the Marketing Strategic Plan for the City of Lakeland was approved by the EDC and was forwarded to the BOC for final approval. The Strategic Plan is available on the City’s website here: http://lakelandtn.gov/DocumentCenter/View/6010. The Plan’s purpose is to guide marketing efforts and activities for Lakeland.
